Positive Living Community is looking for a motivated nurse to head medical services at our new 18 bed care home established in March 2019. We provide hospice/ palliative/ disability care for those dealing with morbid or co-morbid illnesses. As a Nurse at Positive Living Community Care Home, we’ll look to you to provide leadership and guidance to our team of experienced, informally trained caregivers. You’ll ensure each patient’s needs are met compassion-altely, and your goal will be to facilitate optimum quality of life for our patients despite their debilitating illnesses.


As the head of medical care, you will work side by side with a newly appointed Home Administrator to ensure the smooth running of our facility. Since ours is a small facility, you can enjoy the freedom and autonomy you need to make a real difference. You can expect a wide range of responsibilities, from admitting a new resident and making sure he is settling in, carrying out a variety of clinical tasks, accompanying residents for critical hospital appointments and liasing with doctors to address our Patient's needs, developing and executing standard procedures and ensuring compliance to regulatory standards in the area of providing quality nursing care. You will have access to a panel of consultant doctors and a senior nurse, should you need guidance or support.


The job is for a fixed term of two years. Long term position is possible, depending on various factors.

  • Medical professional specialised in healthcare – nurse/ medical support & assistant or equivalent

  • State registered nurse (SRN), RGN or equivalent.

  • Possess at least diploma/advanced higher/ graduate diploma in nursing or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the related field

  • Not limited to, but inclusive of retirees

  • Posess valid driving licence

  • Able to write and read in English

  • On call for emergency situations (at least via phone)


  • Caring, supportive and compassionate nature

  • Independent & proactive

  • Good leadership and communication skills.

  • Able to provide basic training & supervision to caregivers.

  • Changing nasogatric tubes, dressing wounds, supervising the care of bed sores,

  • Create & maintain accurate records & reports of vital signs and healthcare

  • Able to administer & monitor medication that has been prescribed by doctors

  • Monitor, record & report symptoms or changes in condition of patients

  • Coordinate and plan hospital trips, and join trips when necessary

  • Develop & implement nursing/ operational procedures for optimal running of facility

  • Ensure basic standards and guidelines are met


  • Not limited to, but inclusive of retirees

  • Posess valid driving licence

  • Diploma or degree in Social Work, Management, Administration, or related

  • Retired matrons/ retired staff nurse/ retired doctors are most welcome


  • Direct and manage the operations and activities of the home to comply with all rules, regulations and policies that apply.

  • Develop and oversee the budget.

  • Supervise, guide and manage staff & volunteer performance

  • Conduct staff meetings.

  • Manage facility maintenance.

  • Manage and oversee tasks and schedules.

  • Maintain records and files.

  • Prepare reports, proposals and documentation.

  • Maintain contact with resident's families.

  • Act as liaison to agencies involved in services for residents.

  • Attend relevant training.

  • Represent the care home in external meetings.

  • Perform other duties as directed/required
